It is often said amongst lawyers in this practice area that housing court is a “zoo” – and my experience handling landlord-tenant cases verifies this often-heard statement.

Cases are handled quickly, almost in an assembly line-like process. There is little room for error, paperwork must be filed promptly at the appropriate court, and oral argument must be concise and cogent.

Tenants often face serious repercussions if they handle their cases pro se (without the assistance of counsel).  Pro se clients are often not given the benefit of the doubt when facing eviction proceedings unless they are aided by a competent lawyer who understands the intricacies of the system.

There is no substitute for enlisting the help of an attorney with your case in this area of law.
